Ever wanted more time at the adventure playground without all the crowds? Keen to play on site with a handful of friends? We offer private 2-hour sessions at The Yard, before or after our weekend public hours (12-4pm) for young people ages 4+. Whether you are celebrating a birthday or just want more time to play, you will have the entire adventure playground to yourselves. Our trained playworkers will be onsite to support your young person’s adventure play.

Guest count does not include adults or anyone too young to play in The Yard.

Time Slots

We offer five time slots before and after our weekend public hours:

  • **Saturday Morning: 9:50–11:50 a.m

  • Saturday Afternoon: 4:10–6:10 p.m.

  • Sunday Morning: 9:50–11:50 a.m.

  • **Sunday Afternoon: 4:10 - 5:40 p.m. (prorated pricing)

  • Sunday Afternoon: 4:10–6:10 p.m.

While we do our best to accommodate all party requests, Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon are generally the easiest time slots for us to staff. Due to playworker availability, Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning parties may take longer to confirm and are subject to staffing availability.

*We already have Playworkers staffed during these times so we can book these two slots without having to confirm staffing.

What to know

  • We party rain or shine!

  • Your party fee provides you with 2 hours of private access to The Yard and Playworker supervision.

  • play:groundNYC does not have facilities for food preparation or refrigeration but we offer picnic tables and chairs adjacent to The Yard to set out refreshments you may choose to bring or purchase from Governors Island food vendors.

  • All party-goers need to come with closed toe shoes. Hard soled shoes are strongly recommended. 

  • All persons entering play:groundNYC will need a signed waiver.

Cancellation policy

The safety of our guests is our top priority. If temperatures are below freezing, severe weather conditions (including tropical storms, dangerous winds, flooding, or other conditions that may impact ferry service or safe access to Governors Island), or unhealthy air quality make it unsafe to host the party, we will work with you to reschedule at no additional cost.

If weather and air quality conditions are considered safe and you choose to reschedule your party, rescheduling within 3 days of the party date will incur a fee equal to 25% of the total party cost. Rescheduling after this period will incur a fee equal to 50% of the total party cost.
